Who We Are
This site is operated by the Protestant Episcopal Theological Seminary in Virginia (DBA Virginia Theological Seminary VTS).
The Information We Collect
VTS collects certain Customer Identifiable Information from those who visit the VTS website and either request information or register to be a supporter of the Seminary. “Customer identifiable information” is information that can be associated with a specific individual, including name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, credit card number and expiration date, gift history and other directly related information stemming from online donations and that are directly linked to the individuals and their transactions. This information may be merged with other information the Seminary already knows, such as whether you have previously contributed to the Seminary or have named the Seminary as the recipient of an estate or other planned gift, etc., or information available from other sources such as credit card verification.
VTS servers automatically collect information about what sites visitors came from and which pages are visited on the VTS site through the use of log files. The company uses this information in the aggregate.
Uses & Disclosure
Customer Identifiable Information will be used to process transactions through this website, including credit card processing.
Unless otherwise requested, e-mail addresses may be used to send you information about VTS, i.e. events and programs, services, merchandise, and opportunities to support the Seminary through additional gifts or memberships. Customer identifiable information may be used by the operators of this site to identify and suggest services and opportunities that might interest you. Virginia Theological Seminary may provide information to affiliates of VTS and nonaffiliated third parties who perform services or functions for us in conjunction with our services to you, but only if we have a contractual agreement with the other party which prohibits them from disclosing or using the information other than for the purposes for which it was disclosed.
None of your nonpublic customer identifiable information will be shared with organizations outside VTS, except in situations when VTS must comply with a validly issued and enforceable subpoena or summons. Nonpublic personal identifiable information is defined in the regulations as any publicly available information that VTS acquires by using information you have provided us in connection with any services we perform for you, which is not public information. An example would be credit card or bank account number that is acquired from you.
